Cahuilla Hills Loop

Cahuilla Hills Park

45-825 Edgehill Drive in Palm Desert CA

Edgehill Drive is off of the west end of El Paseo.

This is a hiking park but there are also a couple of tennis courts.

I do not start my hike from the Cahuilla Hills Park even though I call it the Cahuilla Hills Loop.

I start at the Cap Homme / Ralph Adams Park.

Park your car as though you are hiking to the Cross  and walk along the dirt road alongside the flood control canal north to the Cahuilla Hills Park. Keep walking past the tennis courts to the Herb Jeffries trail head.

Hike up the hill and you will eventually see intersections of hiking trails.  You will see a trail coming up from your right. That is the Hopalong Cassidy Trail / Mike Schuller Trail. This is the one we want. As you stand at the intersection you will see two trails going west up the hill. That would be the Mike Schuller Trail and the two trails merge further up the hill on the way to the Bump and Grind Trail.
Make a left turn and head south on the Hoppalong Cassiay Trail.  This trail will wind around and up and down the hills you see in front of you. As you climb the last hill you will see the Palm Desert Cross off in the Distance.

You will approach another intersection. If you go east, down the hill, you will be taking the Homestead Trail back to the parking lot where you left your car. If you go right, westerly on the Hopalong Cassidy Trail, you continue on to the Cross.

Continue on to the Cross. Rest and enjoy the views. You should be able to see you car in the parking lot.

When you are rested take the Hopalong Cassidy Trail  back to the Homestead Trail and to your car.
