Get on Highway 62 and head to Yucca Valley, CA.
Turn on to Pioneertown Road and drive north about 7 miles through Pioneertown, an old western movie set town, then turn left at the Pipes Canyon Road.
Drive another half miles or so and turn right at the sign for Pipes Canyon. Park near the entry gate.
The Pipes Canyon Loop starts just past the entry gate. Walk through the canyon and after a mile or so the canyon narrows. Somewhere on the right you will see the remains of an old stone house. The canyon will force you to hike in or near water before it starts to widens out. About a half mile from the house you should see foot traffic in the desert areas. Take that trail to the first large canyon on your left. The trail climbs up the side of the ravine. Continue to the top of the hill.
The terrain changes as you walk through some undergrowth and small pinyon pines.
Continue to follow the trail as you wind your way back to the parking area.
