This hike is a nice three mile loop near the BLM visitor center on Highway 74 in Palm Desert CA.
This is a nice introduction to desert hiking, with a variety of plants and flowers, an easy-to-follow trail, and a moderate elevation gain of 400 feet.
Pay attention to the signs and you will learn out desert plants.
The trail is named for Randall Henderson who was instrumental in the development of Palm Desert. He was an author, desert explorer, and early visionary, he realized the area's potential and began to document its history and growth in The Desert Magazine, a periodical he published from the 1930’s through the 1960’s. The Randall Henderson Trail was dedicated on February 5, 2005, by family members.
Exit Interstate 10 at Monterey Ave in Palm Desert and go south. Monterey Avenue is Highway 74. The BLM Visitor Center is on the east side of Hwy 74 about eight miles south of Interstate 10.
