Willis Palms Trail - Thousand Palms CA

The Willis Palms Trail is in Thousand Palms CA and is part of Coachella Valley Preserve off of Thousand Palms Canyon.

This hike is about three miles and is a nice hike.

The sights were a bit dreary because the palm trees caught fire back in November of 2010. About 90% of the trees and undergrowth are burned. The good news is that a lot of new growth is popping up.

Exit Interstate 10 at Monterey and go north. Take Monterey north to Ramon Road and turn right (east). Take Ramon Road to Thousand Palms Canyon and turn left (you can not turn right). About a mile or so up the road you will see a parking area on the left and that is your starting point.

Take a look at our photo gallery, taken 03-01-2011, and see how destructive fire can be to palm trees.
